Drina

Drina Durazo is a multidisciplinary director, producer, designer, and arts administrator whose work spans theater, film, television, and socially engaged storytelling. Her practice is grounded in the belief that narrative art can challenge harmful systems, elevate marginalized voices, and foster connection and repair.

She began her career with Disney’s ABC on General Hospital and later spent eight years with IATSE Local 33, building a strong technical and production foundation through live events and large-scale productions.

Drina went on to work across independent film, television, and media projects. Her credits include Production Designer for the multi-award-winning feature My Name Is Myeisha, Producer for the multi-award-winning short Hell’s Belles, Art Director for The Tavis Smiley Show, and Special Effects work for NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

In theater, Drina has an extensive body of work as a director, producer, and designer. Her credits include productions with Porters of Hellsgate Theatre Company, Lower Depth Theatre, The Group Repertory Theatre, Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre, Actors Studio West, Santa Monica’s Morgan-Wixson Theatre, Woodcraft Rangers Teatro Fogata, and Crescenta Valley High School, where she has also worked as a teaching artist.

Alongside her creative work, Drina is an experienced arts leader and administrator. She currently serves as Company Manager for Lower Depth Theatre and has served for the past three years as the first Managing Director in the 19-year history of Porters of Hellsgate Theatre Company. She previously spent nine years as a member of The Group Repertory Theatre Company, where she served on the Artistic Council and as Vice President of the Board.

Her recent work increasingly explores the intersection of art, trauma, and criminal justice reform. Informed by her academic background in forensic psychology and criminal justice, and her ongoing graduate studies in public administration, Drina is working toward developing arts-based projects and organizational models that support justice-involved individuals, system-impacted families, and community healing.
